THE COMMUNITY SECURITY TRUST Registered Charity No: 1042391

The CST is responsible for the protection of over 600 communal buildings, providing security at 1,000 communal events every year, and with 55 full time staff, 3,000 volunteers and 5 offices across the country, ensures the safety and security of a vibrant thriving Jewish community. Today the CST works to protect the Jewish community, not only against antisemitism, but also against terrorist threats.

Antisemitic Incidents

594 antisemitic incidents were recorded by the Community Security Trust (CST) in 2006. This is the highest annual total since
the CST began recording antisemitic incidents in 1984.

The CST is the only national organisation to record and analyse antisemitic incidents in the UK. It publishes these figures annually and is recognised by the Police, Government and international bodies as the authority on antisemitism in Britain.

This figure maintains the long-term trend of rising incident levels in recent years. Antisemitic incidents have more than doubled since 1999.

How the CST helps keep your community safe

Distribution of leaflets urging anti-Semitism reporting – Auschwitz visit for Police officers – Streetwise courses for young people – CST trained security guards and volunteers protecting Jewish schools – Protective window film for communal buildings – Security grants awarded to United synagogues – Security advice, co-ordination and guidance for communal buildings

How you can help keep your community safe

Volunteer: You can become a trained volunteer and help us keep communal events secure or you can participate in your school or synagogue security rota.

Report incidents: Report antisemitic incidents that have happened to you or that you have witnessed. These could be anything from antisemitic emails to verbal abuse shouted at you in the street.

In an emergency, contact the Police first on 999 and then the CST 24 hour emergency pager on 07659 101 668.

You can also report incidents online at www.thecst.org.uk

Donations: The CST provides all its services entirely free of charge. We rely solely on the support and goodwill of the Jewish community.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, would like to report an incident or would like to make a donation, please call the CST on 020 8457 9999.
